Abstract

|
The visual loss can be divided into the following categories: unilateral, bilateral, disc edema, no disc edema, functional, and illusions or hallucinations. Examinations for the evaluation of visual function include visual acuity, pin-hole test, color vision, visual field test, relative afferent pupillary defect and fundus exam etc. Even though the visual system has the most complex neural circuitry of all the sensory system in human, targeted initial history and the subsequent neuro-ophthalmologic examination in addition to standard neurologic examination can lead to a correct diagnosis.
